Can FRP grating be used in chemical plants?

What is the difference between molded and pultruded FRP grating?
Molded FRP grating is manufactured by interweaving continuous fiberglass rovings with a resin mixture in a heated mold under pressure, creating a one-piece panel with an integrated slip-resistant surface. Pultruded FRP grating is made by pulling fiberglass strands through a resin bath and then through a heated die to create individual load-bearing bars, which are then assembled into panels using cross rods. Molded grating is more economical, lighter, and better for general-purpose applications, while pultruded grating offers higher strength-to-weight ratios and is preferred for heavy-load and long-span applications.

Is FRP grating slip-resistant?
Yes, FRP grating is inherently slip-resistant. The most common type — molded FRP grating — features a concave/convex surface pattern with grit top (silica particles embedded into the surface), providing excellent traction in both dry and wet conditions. This makes it a preferred choice for walkways, platforms, mezzanines, and other areas where slip hazards are a concern. For additional slip resistance, a grit-coated surface can be specified during manufacturing.
